Introducing Milk Bands to Nursing Moms

Posted by

Breastfeeding a baby is supposed to be easy. Just put the baby on mothers’ breast and make him/her comfortable, but is that it? Not a chance. Breastfeeding a baby needs to be monitored too. Mother’s milk is always good for the babies, but not so much when they are overfed. The baby may suffer from “gastric symptoms like tummy pain, excessive gas and greenish watery bowel movements or spitting up large amounts” (Bennett, 2013).

That is why it is always advisable to track down the breastfeeding activity of the baby to make sure that they receive just enough amount milk they need. Doctors will always recommend to breastfeeding mothers to make a journal to be able to track down the number of times the baby fed for a day as well as which side of the breast the baby nurse. Remembering alone is not enough, especially if a mother will feed her baby at least 10 times a day, on top of it doing other household chores, very tough to do. But writing a journal eats up huge amount of time and painstaking. We are introducing a product that will help breastfeeding mothers tracking their feeding activities, the “Milk Bands Breastfeeding Bracelet”.

The Milk Bands breastfeeding bracelet is designed just like a bracelet to serve a nursing band. This is a feeding tracker so mothers can monitor the feeding patter of their baby without writing into a journal. It is very simple and easy to use. Simply put on your wrist and adjust the attached slider. The Milk Band has two sides,

  • the left and right side - indicating the left and right breast
  • on the bracelet it self, time (hour and minutes interval) are written
  • attached is a slider that points to the specified time (hour and minutes) interval the baby was fed

So how does this work? The bracelet must be put on the wrist (whichever arm), right side first if the baby is nursing on the right breast. Then mother can adjust the slider of the interval that the baby nurse either by the minutes or by hours. This way the mother can monitor that the baby nursed on the right side of the breast few minutes or hours ago. Should the mother decide to let the baby nurse on the left side of the breast, all the mother need to do is turn the bracelet inside out to expose the left sign as well as the time indicator.

Aside from time monitor, the mother can also use the bracelet to monitor different activities of the baby, like how long the baby was nursing, how many diapers the baby had use for the day, a reminder of the need to feed the baby because babies sometimes do not ask or feel that they are hungry. And many other activities that mothers wants to be reminded of.

If the mother wants to monitor all the activities at the same time, the bracelet comes in many colors, so she can color code for each of the activity. The band is also very trendy and made of silicon so it is safe to use even near the babies.
